Workshops with Marek & Olivera

Another of our very popular regular weekend classes and workshops with Marek and Olivera. They are very experienced and highly-respected teachers who have recently moved to Cardiff and have many years of tango wisdom to impart.

Workshops 2.00-5.00 pm, Theme; To be Announced

Milonga (Social Dancing)

6.00-10.00 pm 

DJ Philippa will be playing a good selection of traditional tango music. Hot drinks and light refreshments will be served along with Rebecca's famous chocolate cake! We can promise a warm and welcoming atmosphere for dancers of any level of ability. Non-dancers are also very welcome to come and watch, to find out what tango is all about, and enjoy cake, music and good company.

There’s free parking in the car park in front of the hall.

Entry  £7.50 for waged, £5 concessionary, £3 non-dancing entry.

Class with German Landeira

Holy Trinity Church, Parkway, Sketty, SA2 8JQ

For one night only we are delighted to have special guest teacher German Landeira teaching at Tango Essence.
German was born in Buenos Aires and started his dancing career at 16 years old.
He studied at ISFA (Superior Artistic Training Institute)), where he started his career in an academic environment, and continued developing as a tango and Argentinian folklore teacher and dancer. During the course, he met his most inspiring teacher, Suyay Quiroga, who has shared with him her vast knowledge. German is fully dedicated to training and developing as a professional dancer of Argentine tango salon and folklore. His knowledge of English language, professional and good communication skills allows him to work in Europe, and share experience with his students.
As one of the up and coming new generation of dancers he has ranked highly in many championships in Buenos Aires.

Classes: 7.00-8.00pm , 8.15-9.15, followed by a practica till 10.00pm

Cost; £12 (The cost of the first class is included in the 6 weeks beginner course)

Ryszard and Monika both had a background in dance before their first encounter with Argentine Tango in London in 1995. They have both studied a wide range of dance forms including Contemporary Dance (London Contemporary Dance School and Laban School) Flamenco, Street Dance and Jazz. Before they started dancing tango they were successful in competitive Latin American and Ballroom dancing.

In 2011 they performed in the highly successful and popular theatre production ‘Midnight Tango’ which toured the UK, winning great acclaim and subsequent live cinema screening and DVD release in UK.

They have been regularly invited to perform tango exhibitions in the popular and respected milonga – ‘La Baldosa’ in Buenos Aires, and have also performed at Milonga Parakultural in Salon Canning, and in the Milonga de Los Domingos at El Beso. They are one of the very first Polish tango couples to have the honour of dancing Argentine Tango performances in the most famous tango venues in Buenos Aires.

They have a wealth of experience in learning, dancing and teaching different styles of tango; Escenario, Tango Salon and Nuevo. Over the past few years their passion is tango Milonguero style

Wednesday November 6th

Ryszard and Monika will be teaching the regular Wednesday class at Holy Trinity Church, Parkway, Sketty, SA28JQ.

7pm-8.30 pm, followed by a practica. Theme to be announced
